A home holds
more than things.
It holds the way we live, the places we have been, and the people we are becoming.
Where it began
A bamboo chair.
A feeling of home.
When I think of my childhood home, the first thing that comes to mind is a bamboo chair.
Our home had two stories, with a rooftop garden patio shaded by an overhang. Inside, green-and-white mosaic tiles covered the floor. A dark wooden sofa, two handmade rattan chairs, and a rattan coffee table furnished the living room. There was also a square wooden dining table with stools.
Bamboo chairs stood in the middle of the living room, ready for neighbors who stopped by. When my grandmother came to visit, she loved to sit in one of them.
As I shape Tone + Grain, I return to these memories—the colors, the textures, and the simple act of making room for someone. They remind me that a home’s character grows through the objects we live with and the life we share within it.
Elegant Living
It begins with
how we choose to live.
Looking back, that home reminds me that living beautifully isn’t determined by how much we spend. It begins with our attitude toward life—the care we give our surroundings, the welcome we offer others, and the attention we bring to everyday moments.
This belief is at the heart of Tone + Grain: elegant living begins with how we choose to live.
